KPRC 2's Winston Dutchin leaves for Seattle

Friday night I blogged how at the end of the day, the Houston media lost three on-air folks - Fox 26 KRIV's Kristi Powers, KIAH 39's Mia Gradney and 740 KTRH's Joe Gomez.

Well, June 2nd we learn that KPRC 2 weekend sports anchor Winston Dutchin is checking out too.

Dutchin announced the news on Twitter Saturday.

With mixed emotions, my family and I are leaving Houston and moving to Seattle. We are terribly excited to raise our two young boys closer to family, but Houston will always hold a special place in my heart.

This city and it's people welcomed us, and our kids will always be native Texans.

Special thanks to everyone at Local 2, especially @RandyMcIlvoy @adamclanton @Allen_Reid @DarylGeorge. I couldn't have been more blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful and talented people in the sports department.

According to his bio, Dutchin joined KPRC Local 2 as executive sports producer, reporter and anchor in December 2006. Before that, he spent eight years working at KMIR in Palm Springs, CA as a sports reporter. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

  1. Good. His stupid jokes got on my nerves. And he always rooted for Green Bay. Go away and take your dumb jokes with you, cheesehead. Kprc never should have got rid of Steve Mark. He was their best weekend sports anchor.

    12. This morning KPRC was near perfect. No Freeman. No Reyna. If only that troglodyte Conflenti wasnt in air, they'd have had the perfect trifecta!!!
      On the downside, unfortunately Sachse decided to return and pick up where she left off...interrupting others and trying to convey her false image of sincerity.

  12. You guys could see big boobs on anything and get excited. Katherine Whaley has an average size body and a georgeous face and no one says anything...she is the most beautiful and talented news anchor on tv by far.....

  14. I was able to intern for him on Friday nights in the fall and you will never meet a nicer, friendlier, funnier guy in all of news broadcasting. Sad to hear he is leaving Houston but wish him the best in Seattle.
