I'll admit it, you don't want me anywhere near a kitchen when it comes to baking or most food preparation for that matter. I got very lucky and married a great chef. The deal is I do the dishes and clean up, she makes the food. We're both happy with the arrangement.

So when I was asked to participate in Kroger's seventh annual Bringing Hope to the Table Cake-off (SEE LAST YEAR'S PHOTOS), I looked like a fish out of water. Especially next to the winner, Fox 26 KRIV anchor, and soon to be new father, Chris Stipes. The winner in Dallas was Eye Opener's Nerissa Knight.  Both winners were able to make a $1,000 donation to their city's food bank thanks to Kroger.

Nevertheless, Fox 26 KRIV and CBS Radio dual threat Cleverley Stone and I had fun during the event.

The big media bake-off kicks off Kroger’s annual Bringing Hope to the Table campaign which gives shoppers the opportunity to help raise money for the Houston Food Bank and its ongoing programs that support local food-insecure families, seniors and children (happens in Dallas too).

From May 1 – 14, customers can purchase a variety of campaign tagged products and a percentage of the sale will benefit the Houston Food Bank and North Texas Food Bank/Tarrant Area Food Bank among others across the country. This year, the Bringing Hope to the Table campaign is expected to raise more than $150,000 in the greater Houston area.
