Houston media turkey winner gets a tree

More Houston media folks are signing up for the TXU Energy Turkey Trot media turkey calling contest (more posts on that soon). I just blogged about KHOU 11 morning anchor Lily Jang's participation.

As I've told you before, I’m teaming up with TXU Energy to help get the word out about the upcoming TXU Energy Turkey Trot benefiting Sheltering Arms Senior Services. The race takes place at Dillard’s near the Galleria on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012.

I'm promoting the Houston media turkey calling contest (The contest will be 10am, Saturday, November 10th at the Houston Zoo - Butterfly Stage in the Children’s Zoo).

Here are two big news items involving the contest.

First, the winner of the media turkey calling contest will have the opportunity to designate a public place to have a tree planted by TXU Energy and the Texas Trees Foundation. As part of its commitment to the communities it serves, TXU Energy has a long-standing partnership with the foundation to create healthy communities through tree planting for neighborhood associations, schools, nonprofit organizations and municipalities. Together, the foundation and TXU Energy grow and maintain the TXU Energy Urban Tree Farm and Education Center, the largest nonprofit urban tree farm in the nation.

TXU Energy is excited to give the winner of the media turkey calling contest the opportunity to designate a public place for a tree to be planted. More info here.

Also, Cowboy Dave from 100.3 KILT will be the emcee of the event this year.

Get all the details for the race and Sheltering Arms Senior Services at http://turkeytrot.shelteringarms.org/.
